The Superhuman Manifesto

Why we built TOP and why it matters for everyone.

AI is making me into a superhuman.

And I have to say, it's a lot of fun.

Being able to accomplish goals almost immediately with better results than I can even imagine is a beautiful experience.

I like to think that the greatest athletes, musicians, and dancers experience something like being superhuman when they are in a flow state of peak performance: Goals arise, action initiates, missions are completed... new goals appear, new actions occur, and more progress is made.

My personal interests have not been in sports or music. Rather, I have had an interest in experience itself—and how to optimize the experience of being alive.

Building things should be fun.

One of the most significant aspects of who I am is that I love to build things.

But as much as I love building things... building things as a regular human is often incredibly challenging and a huge amount of the process is NOT that much fun.

The old way:

  • I love coming up with ideas... but I don't love writing product specification documents.
  • I love imagining how a product might look... but I don't like adjusting button dimensions in complicated design software.
  • I love experiencing the end result... but I don't like tracking bugs while customers complain.

The superhuman way:

Imagine something. Conjure it into existence. Try it out. See if others like it. Improve it and expand it. Listen to users and watch it evolve until everyone loves it.

This is WAY more fun.

Technology has become a frustrating mess.

Even with AI, technology has become a frustrating mess. This shouldn't be called the Information Age—it should be called The Too Much Information Age.

You log into your phone or computer for a particular reason and suddenly you are in an environment with 99% of apps that are useless for that reason. “Who cares? You can ignore them.” Yea, that's what my daughter tells me when I ask her to pick up the 300 wet towels on the floor.

Then you open one of these apps that is actually useful for your purpose and now you're using an app that is 99% being used for other reasons.

For example: You log in to research a company you're interested in investing in.

  • After logging in, you're in a general purpose environment designed to let you play a game, design graphics, create music, edit video... So, ok, you ignore the noise.
  • Then you open your email and it's full of messages about an upcoming party, spam, info about other projects...
  • Then you open iMessage or WhatsApp and start digging, looking for the chat relevant to THIS project...
  • Then you open ChatGPT and ask questions mixed in with other threads...
  • Then your calendar, file system, notifications, spreadsheets, browser...

AND THEN you realize a colleague wants to join this process. So you start emailing docs, sharing links, setting sharing configs, texting contacts...

AND THEN you want AI to help with one of the tools—amazing!—but you want the AI to consider information in your email, your spreadsheet, your chats. So now you're configuring the AI to access the 1% of apps that matter and the 1% of information in those apps that apply to this topic.

You spend most of your time dealing with things peripheral to the actual goal itself.

THIS IS AN INFORMATION MANAGEMENT NIGHTMARE.

Everyone else is solving the wrong problem.

Solving this problem is the holy grail of the consumer AI revolution. This is what OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and 99% of software entrepreneurs are focused on solving.

BUT they all have a problem: they are stuck in a certain mindset. They are all focused on how to make our current workspaces smarter and more useful.

It's like they just walked into a small room that is being used as a restaurant, an office, a dance studio, a game room, a factory, and a place to socialize—and said:

“WOW!! This place needs a super intelligence to help you organize everything so that the dancers don't trip on the kitchen gear and the games don't distract me from the work I'm trying to do...”

I have taken a different approach.

I completely reimagined the workspace itself.

We reimagined the workspace.

We're turning the one room space into dedicated spaces for superhuman teams.

Operating systems were built before there was an Internet and before there was AI. If the people who built operating systems were to start from scratch, they would be building what we have built.

People collaborate

Built knowing that people often work together

AI is fundamental

AI as a first-class team member, not an afterthought

Goals drive everything

Dedicated spaces for accomplishing specific goals

And as an interesting side note, the system is starting to be used to build itself. My prediction is we end up with an extremely optimized experience for how we use technology to help us accomplish goals.

What does it mean for YOU to optimize your experience?

I don't believe everyone should become or even wants to become a superhuman. Maybe being a regular human is working out perfectly for you. Maybe it is even optimizing your experience of being alive. I recognize and respect this at all levels.

But for others, there is a desire to explore beyond our intrinsic limitations. I find myself with a passionate desire to extend, expand and enhance my experiences in ways that require intelligence and skills and knowledge that I have NOT had... until now.

With AI, I am realizing visions in hours that would take me months without AI. I am proceeding with creative ideas and work projects that I would normally not even start because of resource and time constraints. I am enjoying the process of accomplishing goals that I would be suffering through without AI.

I'm having more fun. My experience of being alive has improved.

I love being surrounded by other people who are embracing their superhuman paths and embracing the option to improve their experience of being alive.

And more than anything, I love when the experience they are improving involves improving other people's experiences.

What does it mean for YOU to optimize your experience of being alive?

How could being superhuman help you do this?
